My family has given us mixed responses as we journey into homeschooling. My mom finally showed her support by picking up a kindergarten level science book series for Baby Smooch. The first one covers seasons. I think winter in Indiana provides with an undeniable reality that is weather. Two days ago it was close to 70 degrees tonight we had a crazy burst of snow and tomorrow morning’s windchill is expected to be -10.
The inside cover starts with some sight words (we aren’t there yet, concept words, and a how to guide for this book. It has beautiful pictures that caused her to get so excited. We talked about our favorite things about each season. Spring means its time to break “Red Thunder” her trike out of the garage and take a spin. It’s time to plant flowers and wear dresses!!! Summer is time to play with her cousin at Granny’s and swim in Granny’s pool. She wasn’t so certain about fall and then I reminded her about jumping in leaves and carving pumpkins! She told me winter is her favorite, but I’m not sure about that.
I’m going to use this book over again in a few months when the seasons change again and then introduce a few of the sight words. We’ll also plant some seeds and talk about birds building nests and all the spring babies being born!

Some people find it hard to be supportive of things they don’t understand. I personally don’t homeschool, but I can definitely see the benefits it provides a child. You are doing what is best for your family and that is great!! I love hearing about what your little one is learning, and knowing she is excited about it makes it even better
